Lucie Gorham Bergen, 98, passed away peacefully with her familyat her side on Dec. 13, 2009, in Manchester, Conn.

She was the sister of Charles R. Jacobs, of Brookhaven. Shelived most of her life in Winnetka, Ill., near Chicago, Ill., whereshe married Willett Noble Gorham in 1933 and had two children.Growing up in Winnetka, she attended the North Shore Country DaySchool and Pine Manor College. During her life in Illinois shevolunteered her time at the Skokie Valley Hospital and the ClarkHouse of Chicago.

Her husband Willett “Bud” Gorham predeceased her, as did hersecond husband, Garrett Bergen.

She is survived by her brother, Charles R. Jacobs and his wife,Pat Jacobs, of Brookhaven; her daughter, Dale Carstens and herson-in-law, Jeff, of Glastonbury, Conn., and their daughters, Julieand Skip Kamis, Lucie and Tom Daly, all of Glastonbury, andVirginia Carstens and Brooke Hammond, of Manchester, Conn.; herson, Willet and her daughter-in-law, Judith, of Grand Rapids,Minn., and Tucson, Ariz., and their daughters, Sue and KrisJennings, of Freeport, Maine, and Sandra Gorham and BillHoopingarner, of Plainwell, Mich.; as well as 11great-grandchildren.
