WESSON – Senior guard Ann Shelby Davis fired in a game-high 22points Saturday afternoon to lead the Wesson Lady Cobras in a 58-40Region 6-2A win over the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets.

In the varsity boys game, senior guard Tyler Lumley’s 23 pointsand 6 rebounds sparked the Cobras to a 69-58 victory over theJackets.

Wesson entertains district foe Hinds AHS Tuesday night for threegames, beginning with junior varsity boys play at 5 p.m.

Wesson 58, Enterprise 40

The Lady Cobras (13-4, 3-0) were down 9-0 in the opening minutesof the first quarter with 4:43 left. They went on a 17-4 run totake a 17-13 lead. Wesson commanded an 18-point, 39-21, lead at thehalf.

“I thought we played a really good defensive ball game,” saidWesson girls head coach Hugh Webb. “Macie Case really did a goodjob controlling the ball and getting it where we needed it to runour offense. Shauntay Walker gave us a good defensive effort.”

Contributing to the Wesson win with 16 points and 5 rebounds wasDanielle Tadlock. Walker grabbed 5 rebounds and made 6 steals.

“We started out playing really well,” said Enterprise girlscoach Jill Nations. “We have to learn to play four quarters.”

Powering the Jackets (11-6, 2-1) with 11 points was Karla BethHux. Lacey Orr netted 10 points and pulled down 7 rebounds.

Wesson 69, Enterprise 58

Contributing to the Wesson win with 12 points, 7 rebound and 4assists was Kyle Cross. Gib Britt finished with 12 points and had 5assists.

“It was a big district win,” said Wesson boys coach Ron Kessler.”I was proud of their effort. The score wouldn’t be as close if wehad done better from the free throw line,” making just 19-34.

Kessler’s Cobras led 34-29 at halftime and outscored Enterprise21-14 in the fourth quarter.

Riko Palomarez’s 20 points paced Coach John Knight’s Jackets(9-9, 0-3). Thomas Allen scored 11 points. Austin Everett followedwith 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Junior Varsity Games

The Wesson boys crushed Enterprise 60-26 in the JV game.

Leading the Cobras with 14 points was Zach Luke. Scoring 11points was Kaleb Skinner.Terry Brown finished with 10 points.

Robert Bailey paced the Jackets with 7 points.
