Graveside services for Mary Ida Hoffman, of Brookhaven, are 2p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, at Rosehill Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Homeon North Jackson Street is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Hoffman, 90, died Jan. 8, 2010, at Rush Memorial Hospitalin Meridian. She was born in Memphis, Tenn., on Oct. 15, 1919, toGarnett Andrew Hoffman and Ruth Hunter Estes Hoffman.

She was a graduate of Brookhaven Public Schools, Copiah-LincolnCommunity College, the University of Southern Mississippi and theUniversity of Tennessee. She was a retired home economics teacherwho taught at Amory City Schools and Meridian Public Schools. Shealso was a volunteer for Mike Parker’s campaign for Congress. Shewas a member of First United Methodist Church.

Miss Hoffman was also a member of the Mississippi Retired PublicEmployees Association, American Vocational Association and theMississippi Association of Vocational Educators.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her sister, Ruth H.Carleton.

Survivors are her nephews, Kenneth Carleton, of Forrest, and G.Eugene Carleton, of Nashville, Tenn.; her niece, Marsha RuthFrederick, of Carthage; three great-nieces; and onegreat-nephew.
