Services for Perry Allen Smith, of Utica, are 3 p.m. Tuesday,Jan. 12, at Sylvarena Baptist Church in Wesson with burial in thechurch cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home on North Jackson Street isin charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the serviceat the church.

Mr. Smith, 75, died Jan. 8, 2010, at Central Mississippi MedicalCenter in Jackson. He was born in Wesson on July 24, 1934, toJessie Allen Smith and Ruby Roberts Smith.

He was a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Junior College andMississippi College. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Heretired in 1989 as a research physicist at Waterways ExperimentStation in Vicksburg. He was a member of Sylvarena BaptistChurch.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sister, Jan, ofWesson.

Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Janice Countryman Smith, ofUtica; his sons, Allen Dale Smith and wife, Ann, of Gloucester,Va., and Kirk Smith, of Utica; his daughters, Ann Smith-Rinehart,of Utica, and Renee Gray Murphy and husband, John, of Apopka, Fla.;seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his home church,Sylvarena Baptist Church Building Fund, the Alzheimer’sAssociation, or a favorite charity.
