Smith named new Jr. Miss

SUMMIT – Shellie C. Smith was named Lincoln County Junior MissSaturday night during the annual program held at SouthwestMississippi Community College.
Smith is a student at Brookhaven High School where she is amember of the Spanish Club, a varsity cheerleader and hasparticipated in soccer for six years. Her other activities includeChamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Council, Junior AuxiliaryCrown Club, tumbling, Summer Reading Program mentor, competitivecheerleading for nine years, piano for eight years, youth group andyouth choir at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
She is the 16-year-old daughter of Bennie Carlton and BrendaDitcharo Smith. For her talent, Smith performed a pianoinstrumental of “Sonata in C” by Wolfgang Mozart.
Smith was chosen from a field of eight participants in thescholarship program. She will move on to the state program, whichwill be held in July in Meridian.
