Wedding guests traveled through a path of rose bushes to anoutdoor garden of flowers, which presented the setting for theevening marriage of Katie Juanita Smith of the Loyd Star, andBrandon Mark Slaton, of Bogue Chitto.

The couple, who said their vows under a pergola covered withwisteria vines, was united in marriage on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009,at 6 p.m. at Monmouth Plantation in Natchez.

The bride is the daughter of Kerry and Sherree Smith, of the LoydStar.

The groom is the son of David and Lynne Ezell, of Summit, and thelate Mark Slaton.

Grandparents of the bride are George and Juanita Smith, of LoydStar, Polly Smith, of Brookhaven, and the late Lee Roy Smith.Grandparents of the groom are Ford and Geraldine Young, of Summitand the late Doc and Phyllis Slaton.

Bro. Van Bodin officiated the ceremony. Wedding director was BaileySmith, cousin of the bride.

Nuptial music was provided by pianist Judy Mason, of Natchez. BeckyStephens, of Natchez, was the vocalist.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an ivory straplessAllure Bridals gown featuring a beaded bodice and sweetheartneckline. Her bouquet was made of fushia pink roses accented byrhinestones and green hydrangea.

Serving as maids of honor were Karah Smith, sister of the bride, ofLoyd Star, and Susan Wyant, of Ridgeland. Bridesmaids were BrittanySmith, cousin of the bride, of Wesson; Brookes Herrington, cousinof the bride, of Brookhaven; Sarah Sones, of Brookhaven; and AnnaSmith, of Fort Worth, Texas.

Honorary bridesmaids were Angie Smith, sister of the bride, ofEllisville, Megan Woodcock, of Meadville, Krystal Conn, of Wesson,and Sarah Huckman, of Church Point, La.

Attendants wore Alfred Angelo café colored tea-length straplessdresses with silver shimmer lace overlays.

Flower girl was Lainey Claire Smith, cousin of the bride, ofCrystal Springs. She wore a sleeveless ivory-colored dress.

Best man was Dustin Philebar, of Jayess.

Groomsmen were Justin McKenzie, of Summit, Brandon Givens, ofSummit, Derek Smith, brother of the bride, of Brookhaven, JeffRainey, of McComb, and Dean Philebar, of Summit.

Ring bearer was Mac Roberts, of Brookhaven.

Ushers were Ben Slaton, cousins of the groom, of Ocean Springs,Zane Crosby, cousin of the bride, of Brookhaven, and Slaton Parker,cousin of the groom, of Summit.

Presiding at the bridal registry was Chandler Parker, cousin of thegroom, of Summit.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Garden Room atMonmouth Plantation. The covered patio featured iron tables andchairs decorated with vases holding Gerber daisies and roses. Thebuffet style food table featured a large arrangement full of pinkroses, orange Gerber daisies and an assortment of yellow, purpleand green flowers.

Two tables held memory vases and candles in honor of the groom’sfather, Mark Slaton, and the bride’s grandfather, Lee RoySmith.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsaldinner at Biscuits and Blues in Natchez.

After a wedding trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple has madetheir home in Bogue Chitto.
