Burlan Leroy ‘Bud’ McDavid

Services for Burlan Leroy “Bud” McDavid, of Zachary, La., willbe held at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at First Baptist Church inZachary, with burial in Azalea Rest Cemetery in Zachary. Dr. ReggieBridges will officiate. Charlet Funeral Home in Clinton, La., is incharge of arrangements.
Visitation is Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time ofthe service.
Mr. McDavid, 73, died Feb. 19, 2010. He was born in McComb on Oct.3, 1936.
He retired from Illinois Central Railroad with 46 years of service.He
was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was a member of theMasonic Lodge of Ruston and a reserve police officer with theRuston Police Department. He also retired from the city of Zacharyas recreation director and was a former Bronco Backer and ZacharyYouth Baseball coach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hezzie Burlan and RosaMcCloy Stokes McDavid; and an infant brother, Stokes McDavid.
Survivors are his wife of more than 51 years, Myrtle LeggettMcDavid; his children, Donnie Ray McDavid Sr. and wife Pam, BelindaCourville and husband Larry, and David L. McDavid Sr. and wifeSherry, and Stephanie DiBenedetto and husband Jimmy; his sister,Peggy Shoemaker; five nephews and nieces; former daughter-in-law,Angie Henning and husband Chris; his grandchildren, Jessica McDavidand fiance Jeremy Brewer, D.R. and Emily McDavid, Ricky and RaquelMcDavid, Brad McDavid and Ashley McDavid, Cody McDavid and KayleeMcDavid, E4 Matthew and Crystal Jones, Nikki Jones, and RichardEsskew and Haylea DiBenedetto; his great-grandchildren, McKeniseMcDavid, Lane Claire McDavid, Trae McDavid and Kendall McDavid; andexpected twins due March 2010, Aurora Rose and Jayden BudJones.
Pallbearers are grandsons, D.R., Ricky, Brad and Cody McDavid,Matthew Jones and Richard Esskew. Honorary pallbearers are JohnHerty, Trevor Hannum, Randy Aulds, Bobby DiBenedetto, Paul Amond,Jimmy DiBenedetto, Larry Courville, Jeremy Brewer, Chris Henning,R.E. Amrhein, Robert “Duke” McHugh and Dr. Kemp Amacker.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s ResearchHospital.
