Co-Lin Wolves overwhelm Hibbing

WESSON – The Co-Lin Wolves handed the Hibbing (Minn.) Cardinalsa pair of lopsided baseball losses Monday at Sullivan Field. Co-Linwon the opener 20-0 and the finale 20-3. Both games went fiveinnings.

The Wolves (8-8) travel to Baton Rouge, La. Wednesday for a9-inning contest beginning at 4 p.m.

“We had some real good at-bats,” said Co-Lin head baseball coachKeith Case. “We made some things happen. We were able to get ourworkout.”

The Wolves collected 17 hits in both games.

Case said Hibbing travels south to play teams in Mississippi andAlabama to get some practice in before returning to snow-coveredMinnesota.

Freshman Ryan Kennedy (1-2) went the distance for the win with 5strikeouts, no walks and 2 hits allowed. Tim Myland took the loss,walking 4 batters and hitting 4.

First baseman Cable McMinn smashed a home run and a single for theWolves. Tyler Reeves ripped a pair of triples. Edmund Cheatham andJeff DeBlieux both doubled and singled. Doubling was SethAvants.

Posting the win was pitcher Taylor Ort (1-0) with 3 runs allowed on2 hits, with 4 strikeouts and 5 walks in 3 innings. Daniel Jenkinsworked the final 2 innings. Absorbing the loss was DevinDelick.

Bud Britt collected a home run, a triple and a double for Co-Lin.McMinn tripled and singled. Following with a double and a singlewas Kendall Logan and Cheatham. Jesse Shows tripled.

Evan Hauta doubled for Hibbing.
