Keene hurls BA past Silliman

Christian “Bubba” Keene struck out 10 batters and walked threeMonday night to direct the host Brookhaven Academy Cougars in an8-3 win against the Silliman Institute (La.) Wildcats.

BA (2-3) hosts Parklane today, beginning at 4 p.m. with a varsityonly game.

“Bubba Keene did an excellent job for us tonight,” said BAfirst-year head coach Casey Edwards. “We did a good job hitting theball. We still have improvements to make but tonight showed we aretaking the right steps.”

At the plate, Keene also led the Cougars with a pair of singles.Hitting safely were Brent Henderson, Will Gatlin, HunterMcCullough, Tripp Jolly, Dan Coleman, Hunter Franklin and JacobPhillip.

“BA came out ready to play,” said Silliman coach Mike Forbes. “Weswung the bats well. Their pitcher (Keene) threw an excellent game.We didn’t adjust.”

Andy Maddox was the losing pitcher with 3 strikeouts and 4walks.

Marc McMillian doubled twice for the Pioneers. Robert Berrydoubled. Maddox singled twice.
