North Pike holds off Bogue Chitto girls

BOGUE CHITTO – Brianna Brister fanned 10 batters, walked 3 andhit 2 batters to help the North Pike Lady Jaguars to a 5-3 win overthe Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats Thursday night in varsity fastpitchsoftball action.

North Pike begins play today and Saturday in the Live OakTournament in Louisiana.

Toy Smith absorbed the loss with 5 strikeouts, no walks and 2 hitbatters.

“We played a top notch team tonight,” said Bogue Chitto coach ScottLeggett. “Two mistakes kept us from winning the game. They areprobably one of the best teams we have played this year.”

Josie Porter tripled for the Cats. Mattie Avants and Kerri McGeheesingled.

“I am proud of my girls effort,” said North Pike coach SonyaWallace. “We played a complete game. We managed to get key hits atcrucial times. Bogue Chito came ready to play.”

Alana Hopkins led the Jags with a double and a single. Triplingwere Summer Brown and Brister. Lee Ann Hill doubled. Lauren Wellsand Breanna McKenzie each singled twice. Charneissa Gordon andSavannah Johnston each singled.

Junior varsity game

Bogue Chitto nipped North Pike 12-11. Avants got the win with 3strikeouts and 4 walks.

Colby Kirkland and Lauren Wallace hit safely for the Cats.

The Jags got a triple and a single from Savannah Welch. Ripping 3singles was Danaye Parks. Kristen Johnson singled twice.
