Services for Charles Day Burke, of Brookhaven, were 2 p.m.Sunday, March 21, at Clear Branch Baptist Church in Wesson, withburial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service wasin charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service atthe church.

Mr. Burke, 78, died March 18, 2010, at St. Dominic-Jackson MemorialHospital in Jackson. He was born on Jan. 6, 1932, to David ScottBurke and Ella Day Burke.

He was a chemical engineer and plant manager. He was a member ofClear Branch Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of Korean War.He was a past state president of SWANA Solid Waste, a Mason andShriner, and a member of the Woodworking Club and Keep LincolnCounty Beautiful.

Preceding him in death were his parents, David Scott Burke and EllaDay Burke; his brother, Ralph Burke; and his sister-in-law, EttaSmith Burke.

Survivors are his wife, Cornell W. “Connie” Burke; his daughter,Belinda Kay Burke, of Atlanta, Ga.; his brother, Gerald Burke; hissisters-in-law, Sara Burke, Margie Williams, Naida Gill, BobbieCalcote, and Wilma Martin and husband, Bob; his brother-in-law,Joel Westbrook and wife, Eleanor; and many beloved nieces, nephews,great-nieces and great-nephews.
