I would first like to do a shout out to The Puckihuddle (anAmerican word that means a gathering place to exchange ideas) Clubthat includes Virginia Atherton, Shirley Calcote, Marion Godbold,Mickey Hale, Shirley Holliday, Janet Morton, Betty Peters, JeanPhillips, Helga Reed, Lou Robinson, Mary Ann Smith, Velma Taylor,Joyce Woods and Maxine Minter.

I had the honor of speaking at the club’s monthly morning tea atthe home of Maxine Minter. I shared with the women the role of the‘O’ Foundation and how they can help with mentoring. The club wasestablished in 1940. We look forward to forming a core group topass on ideas and mentor young girls.

The old Columbus Mill is moving again with more than 30 employeesback at work. We are all getting excited to hear the whistle startblowing again at midday. Thanks to Derrick Weathersby for bringingin the new managers to sample the food at the restaurant. MitchellCarter of Great Southern Wood was one who came once and then cameback with his wife and kids. They are staying at the Inez and driveback to Dothan, Ala., at intervals to check on their home. Theylove our Southern cooking and love how the community makes themfeel right at home.

I was in Hattiesburg attending the wedding ceremony of Marvin WardJr. when the Martha Sykes Seniors Fashion Show took place. Ireceived raving reviews from Lance Fuller and others that made upthe more than 300 guests attending the show. A special thanks toAlexene and the Daughters of the Elks for donating more than 100lbs. of food, and the Mt. Wade Church family for their generousdonation to help with continued hot meals being delivered to ourelderly shut-ins.

Prayers of strength go out to Mrs. Sylvester Young, of PicoVillage, on the homegoing of her sister this past week.

Mona Adams stopped by to say thank you to everyone who wished herwell and for the prayers. She started her treatments and hasclaimed healing. She wanted to say hello to her Mt. Wade family andshe will be back at church soon.
