Smith helps BC girls whip Franklin County

BOGUE CHITTO – Toy Smith fanned 5 batters and walked 2 to helpthe Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats to a 10-4 fastpitch softball victoryover the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs.

Bogue Chitto (6-4, 1-0) travels to Vicksburg St. Aloysius Mondayfor 2 games. The junior varsity begins at 5 p.m.

“We got off to a good start, ” said Bogue Chitto coach ScottLeggett. “Franklin County battled back but the fourth inning wasbig for us.”

Bogue Chitto led Franklin County 4-0 after 2 innings. The Bulldogsscored 3 runs to cut the deficit to 4-3 in the third. In the bottomof the fourth, the Cats exploded for 6 runs to push their lead to10-3 before the Bulldogs added a run in the top of theseventh.

Absorbing the loss was Kacey Smith with 1 strikeout and 4walks.

Bradi Davis and Mattie Avants led the Cats with 2 singles apiece.Josie Porter doubled. Singling were Darcy Miller, Adrienne Wallace,Alexis Givens and Rheagan Wallace.

The Bulldogs got a triple from Laylan Griffin. Doubling was AllisonHaver. Kailee Mullins, KeKe Collins, Morgan Knapp and Katie Folmanhit safely.

Junior varsity action

Franklin County knocked off Bogue Chitto 6-2. Hailey Estess singledtwice for the Cats. Colby Kirkland and Marshonikique Blackwell hitsafely.
