Bogue Chitto girls rally past Salem Lady Wildcats

SALEM — The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats rallied for two runs in thetop of the seventh inning and a 9-8 come from behind win over theSalem Lady Wildcats Monday in fastpitch softball action.

Bogue Chitto (9-4, 3-0) plays Saturday in the Loyd Star Tournament.The Cats face North Pike at 12:45 p.m.

“Our backs were to the wall early,” said Bogue Chitto head coachScott Leggett. “Salem hit the ball well tonight. But we were ableto come through in clutch situations. The game kept going back andforth in the final three innings. Our speed helped us in theend.”

Pitcher Toy Smith (5 K, 5 BB) improved to 6-3 with the win. KaylaPuder (10 K, 0 BB) absorbed the loss.

Powering Bogue Chitto with a double and two singles apiece wereJosie Porter and Darcy Miller. Bradi Davis, Adrienne Wallace,Alexis Evans and Smith singled.

Brianna Lirrette led Salem with a home run and a single. KaylaPuder doubled and singled 3 times. Sarah Breeland doubled andsingle. Ripping 2 singles was Dache Passman. Kristin Dillon andLucy Puder hit safely.

Junior varsity game

Bogue Chitto beat Salem 3-1 in the JV game. Mattie Avants fanned 4batters in the win. Rachel Bond struck out 6 in the loss.

Lauren Wallace singled twice for the Cats. Marshonikique Blackwelldoubled. Kaylie Crosby and Hailey Estess hit safely.
