An Alabama man was killed early Wednesday morning in CopiahCounty when he lost control of his motorcycle, officialssaid.

Copiah County Deputy Coroner Dr. Rick Akin said Brandon MichaelYancey, 22, from Citronelle, Ala., was traveling south onInterstate 55 on his way to work when he lost control of his bikearound 6 a.m. near the Gallman exit.

Yancey was living with his fiancé in Copiah County on Highway 27and was reporting to work for Blaine Construction, which isrepaving portions of the interstate. He had worked for the companyless than one week.

Akin said Yancey died of massive head injuries before emergencyresponders arrived on the scene 10 minutes later.

“As massive as his head injuries were, I don’t think he ever knewwhat hit him,” Akin said.

A Jackson truck driver following Yancey on the interstate said thebike began to wobble and he simply lost control and hit thepavement, Akin said.

“I’m almost positive he had a helmet on, but he probably didn’thave it strapped on,” he said.
