Services for David Windsor Gay Sr., of Summit, are 4 p.m.Tuesday, April 27, at First Baptist Church in Summit, with fullFiremen’s Burial Rites in Woodlawn Cemetery. Drs. Dennis Johnseyand Larry LeBlanc will officiate. Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home inMcComb is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church, and onTuesday from 2 p.m. until the time of the services.

Mr. Gay, 73, died April 24, 2010, at University of MississippiMedical Center in Jackson. He was born Dec. 8, 1936, in FranklinCounty to W.H. “Jack” Gay and Gladys Gill Gay.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Summit. He worked forSouthwest General Insurance Agency after graduating from Universityof Southern Mississippi. He worked as an independent insuranceagent for 32 years. He was currently serving as 911 coordinator forPike County and Fire Chief for the Town of Summit. He served asmayor of Summit for three terms and served on the town councilprior to becoming mayor. He served as secretary of officials forthe Mississippi High School Association and the Mississippi JuniorCollege Association. He also served as District 6 Director of DixieYouth Baseball.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his first wife, MyraBrown Gay.

Survivors are his wife, Donna Beth Brewer Gay, of Summit; his sonand daughter-in-law, David and Barbara Gay, of Summit; hisdaughters and sons-in-law, Darla and Sambo Roberts, of Summit, andLori and Trey Wood, of Hattiesburg; his father-in-law, DonaldBrewer, of Summit; his stepson, Jonathan Small, of Mt. Dora, Fla;his stepdaughters and their spouses, Mandi and Ron Prescott, ofPensacola, Fla., and Jamie Beth and Bradley Rials, of Smithdale;his sister and brother-in-law, Versie and Bob Jones, of Baker, La.;his sisters-in-law and their spouses, Louette and Ralph Smith, ofFernwood, Debbie and Cassels Wilson, of Dixie Springs, and SuzieBrewer, of Florence, Ala.; and his 15 grandchildren, John DavidPaulk, Jamie-Lynn Paulk, Daulton Gay, Anna Gay, Kathryn Allyn Wood,Kort Wood, Patrick Roberts, Peyton Roberts, Katelyn Reid, JoshReid, Chris Reid, Leighton Prescott, Ella Claire Prescott, KayleeBeth Rials and Joe Rials.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Adams, Richard Coghlan, Mark Shephard,Lane Ball, Luke Harrington, Stan McMorris, Gary Martin and BarneyAlbritton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Sanders, David”Smitty” Smith, Ken Johnson, Venton Ray Adams, Rex Cowart, AmosParker, Lloyd Young, Kenneth Mooney, Percy Robinson and all PikeCounty firefighters.
