Co-Lin enters state tournament

WESSON – Co-Lin head softball coach Allen Kent and his LadyWolves hit the road this morning for a long trip to Fulton wherethey will begin competing Thursday in the 2-day MACJC StateTournament on the Itawamba Community College Campus. This isCo-Lin’s seventh appearance in eight years in the state tournamentand they are 2-time defending champs.

Co-Lin comes in as the South No. 3 seed to meet the North No. 2seed East Mississippi Thursday at 2 p.m.

Also competing from the South are East Central, Pearl River andGulf Coast. Joining Itawamba and East Mississippi are Northeast andNorthwest.

According to Kent, Co-Lin (28-15, 15-9) kicked off their seasonplaying East Mississippi and beat then three out of four games inregular season. The lost the first game of the season atEMCC.

“East Mississippi was 2-19 before beginning division play,” saidKent. “East Mississippi ran their record up in divisionplay.”

Kent said the South Division is stronger than the North thisseason. “We play in a very tough division. We hope we can go upthere and make a good showing. We want to show how tough the Southis. We are proud to be going back there and hopefully peak at theright time.”

Kent added that he appreciated all the support they have had thisyear. “We hope we can go up there and make a good showing.”

Daniele Wilson leads the Wolves at the plate with a .4 69 battingaverage. Haley Sones is batting .439. Following with a .350 isDeeDee Walker.
