For the third year in a row, Brookhaven’s leaders and potentialleaders will gather at Easthaven Baptist Church to brush up ontheir skills under the tutelage of 10 nationally renownedspeakers.
The speakers are brought to the church from Atlanta via simulcasttechnology, and will feature former Indianapolis Colts Head CoachTony Dungy, best-selling authors Mark Sanborn, Jim Heath and JimCollins, and Delta Airlines President Ed Bastian amongothers.
Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce Executive VicePresident Cliff Brumfield said the simulcast, sponsored byChick-fil-A and masterminded through John Maxwell’s Maximum Impactorganization, brings an opportunity for Lincoln County andBrookhaven residents to see national-level speakers right here inour own community.
“This exciting event will offer participants cutting edgeleadership principles at an incredibly reduced cost while beingable to enjoy the event right here at home,” he said.
The cost of something like Friday’s event would usually run atleast $150, Brumfield said, and in past years it has cost $40 forthe event in Brookhaven.
“We can offer it at a cost of less than last year at $35 perattendee, which includes lunch,” Brumfield said. “Participants cancome and go as they please to the sessions that are most useful forthem.”
In the past, seminar attendees have been pleased about the thingsthey have learned and the speakers they’ve gotten to hear,Brumfield said.
“We encourage local business leaders to take advantage of this andbring someone with them if they can,” he said. “Those who haveattended in the past have left excited about the knowledge they’vegained, and ready to take stronger action on whatever tasks theyhave at hand.”
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., Brumfield said, with a lunchbreak at 11 a.m. Speakers will be finished by 3 p.m.
The seminar has been successful in the past both because of theadvanced facilities at Easthaven, which has multiple large screensand a large seating room, but also because of intangible thingsthat local leaders are trying to get a handle on, Brumfieldsaid.
“Everyone looks for leadership and motivation in their professionallife and by partnering with John Maxwell’s organization, we canprovide that with a faith-based curriculum,” he said. “And we’vefound that trying to provide a leadership curriculum through thechamber is more effective than any other method we’ve found so far,and anyone and everyone can participate.”
Tickets are available at the event Friday morning or ahead of timethrough the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce.
