Services for Louella Lyons Bates, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m.Friday, May 14, at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto,with burial in the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in chargeof arrangements.
Visitation is Thursday from 1 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home,with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m.
Mrs. Bates, 84, died May 9, 2010, at Southwest Mississippi RegionalMedical Center in McComb. She was born in Bogue Chitto on July 23,1925, to Jim Lyons Sr. and Lee Ester Lyons.
She was a graduate of Lincoln County Training School. She wasretired. She was a member of Faith M.B. Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, James Bates;15 children; her brother, Alvin Lyons; her sisters, Doris ClotelDillon, Pauline Richardson, Lee Ester Turner, Margaret Blackwelland Margie Logan; and her son-in-law, John Chatman Sr.
Survivors are her sons, Armond Mikell and wife Althea, of McComb,Ross Reed Jr. and wife Sharon, of Anniston, Ala., Albert Reed andwife Elaine, David Reed and wife Kathyleen, and Henry Reed, all ofBrookhaven; her daughters, Margaret Carey and husband Roy, ofChicago, Ill., and Myra Reed and Lisa Chatman, both of Brookhaven;her brother, Jim Lyons Jr. and wife Cara, of Elk Grove, Calif.; her27 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren; and her fivesisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
