Edna Dunaway Warrick

The family of Edna Dunaway Warrick is saddened to announce herpassing on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born Dec. 15, 1924, in New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Henry Dunaway.They were the beloved parents and in-laws of Linda Dunaway Townsendand Wilton Townsend, of Spring, Texas, Larry Willard Dunaway andDiane Redd Dunaway, of Columbia, James Gerald Dunaway and PeggyPatterson Dunaway, of Moultrie, Ga.; Stanley Wayne Dunaway andAlgirda Lickute Dunaway of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and, NormanEugene Dunaway and Peggy Everett Dunaway, of Brookhaven. She wasthe loving grandmother of Stephanie Townsend Farmer, Erica TownsendWhitaker, Brian Townsend; Timothy Dunaway, Todd Dunaway; PaigeDunaway Short, Beth Dunaway Cassini; Matthew Dunaway; and, AllisonDunaway, Ginny Dunaway. To her great-grandchildren, Peyton andBraden Farmer, Chase and Bristol Whitaker andgreat-stepgrandchildren Ashley and Cheyenne Whitaker; GracieDunaway; Katherine, Landry and Madeline Short, she was fondlycalled “GiGi.” She was adored by her nieces and nephews. Her nieceJanice Herrington considered her a second mother.
She was also preceded in death by her second husband Elmer WinstonWarrick. Her stepchildren and in-laws are Larry and Amelia Warrick;Wayne and Juletta Warrick; and Darlene Warrick. Grandchildren areNatasha Douglas and Julie Williamson. Great-grandchildren are ZachDouglas, Emily Douglas, Tristen Sills, Micah Williamson and ShelbyWilliamson.
She was in the employ of Keystone Seneca for 17 years. She attendedUnion Baptist Church and later, Cold Springs Church of Christ. Shespent many hours in the company of Scarlett Allen, one of hercaregivers. Every friendship was precious.
Visitation is Monday, May 17, from 6 until 9 p.m. at HarrigillFuneral Home. Services will be held on Tuesday in the chapel at 11a.m., with burial at Union Baptist Church Cemetery on Union RoadSoutheast in the East Lincoln community.
No more pain. Only peace and tranquility. She set an example forall her family, one of pure determination, sacrifice, kindness,giving and sweetness – all tremendous attributes exceeded only byGod’s Grace toward her.
