Dixie Youth Subdistrict action gets under way

Lincoln County Dixie Youth Baseball League commissioner WeldonSmith is praying for dry weather as Dixie Youth AA Coach/Pitch8-year-old North Subdistrict Tournament action gets underway atKeystone Park today. Other subdistrict action also starts today asthe long road to the state tournaments gets underway.

“I hope the rain stays away for a few days,” said Smith. “Ourleague tournaments really had to wrestle with the rain.”

The 8s will play on Bank of Brookhaven Field, starting at 6 p.m.Seven teams are entered in the double-elimination tournament.

Natchez plays the Lincoln Nationals on Bank of Brookhaven Field andWesson plays the Lincoln Americans on Field Three at Keystone. Inthe 8 p.m. game, Copiah plays Hazlehurst.

Franklin County drew a bye and plays the winner of theCopiah-Hazlehurst game Wednesday at 6. There will be a 6 p.m.losers bracket game and an 8 p.m. winners bracket game tomorrownight.

7s At Wesson

Five teams are entered in the 7s coach/pitch tournament at Wesson.Tonight’s action sends Wesson against the Lincoln Americans at 6and Copiah against the Lincoln Nationals at 8.

Natchez drew a bye and plays the winner of the Wesson-Americansgame Wednesday at 8 p.m. First round losers play at 6.

9s At Natchez

Five teams are entered in the Class AAA DYB subdistrict at Natchez.It will be played at Lou Bowlin Field in Duncan Park.

At 6 p.m. tonight, Wesson plays the Lincoln Americans. Copiah meetsNatchez at 8.

The AAA 10s and DYB Major League All-Stars begin subdistrict playJune 28. The 10s are at Leroy “Cowboy” Jones Memorial Field inBude. The 11s are at Copiah Academy in Gallman and the 12s are atKeystone Park.
