Bertha Laird Garza, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, La.,passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Harvest Manor Nursing Homein Denham Springs, La.

She was a member of Don Avenue Baptist Church in Denham Springs andwas a retired bookkeeper with Jones Construction Company.

She is survived by two sisters, Francis Schmit, of Baton Rouge, andSue Barnett and husband Malcolm Barnett, of Crystal Springs; twobrothers, Sam Laird and wife Sue Laird, of Brookhaven and TroyLaird, of Brookhaven; a sister-in-law, Rosie Mae Laird; numerousnieces and nephews; and a special friend, Lisa.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Lynn Smith;parents, Ben and Louise Laird; brother, Albert Laird; sister,Monell Callendar; and a brother-in-law, Martin Schmit.

Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 FloridaBoulevard, Baton Rouge, on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, from 10 a.m.until religious services at noon in the funeral home chapel,conducted by the Rev. Huey Moak.

Graveside services will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist ChurchCemetery in Brookhaven, at 3 p.m. conducted by the Rev. KentCochran.
