Funeral services for L.J. McBride Jr., of Brookhaven, were 11a.m. on Wednesday, June 30, at First Baptist Church in Brookhaven,with burial in Rosehill Cemetery in Brookhaven. Brookhaven FuneralHome on Natchez Drive was in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home, andon Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of theservice.

Mr. McBride, 86, died June 28, 2010, at his residence. He was bornin Brookhaven on May 20, 1924, to Leon John McBride Sr. and BessieGoins McBride.

He was retired after serving 30 years in law enforcement, including20 years as Brookhaven Chief of Police. He was a United StatesMarine Veteran of World War II. He was a member of First BaptistChurch.

His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife, Louise McBride, of Brookhaven; his son,Steve McBride and wife Melinda, of Brookhaven; his daughter,Marilyn Easley and husband David, of Cedar Bluff; hisgrandchildren, Marcus McBride and wife Mindy, of Ridgeland,Kimberly Goza and husband Ben, of Pearl, Amanda Easley Criss andhusband Jody, of Slate Spring, Ellen Easley Wallace and husbandRyan, of Starkville, and David Easley, Sarah Easley and AdamEasley, all of Cedar Bluff.

Pallbearers are Marcus McBride, Ben Goza, Adam Easley, RyanWallace, David Easley Jr. and Jody Criss.

Honorary pallbearers are Cecil Rhodes’ Sunday School Class,Greatest Generation, current and former Brookhaven PoliceDepartment law enforcement members, and city officials.
