Peoples Bank stuns Jackson; Pete’s,Bobby’s Starter win in Dixie Boys Tournament

Peoples Bank of the South authored a major upset Tuesday nightin the Lincoln County Dixie Boys Baseball League Tournament atExchange Club Park. The bankers knocked off No. 2 seed Paul Jackson& Son 11-3 on American Legion Field as Jeremy Burns tossed a3-hitter.

In other tournament games last night, No. 1 seed Pete’s Interiorsshut out R.B. Wall Oil Co. 3-0 and Bobby’s Starter & AlternatorService jolted Legacy Auto 5-4.

Tournament play resumes Thursday with Pete’s meeting Peoples at5:15, followed by New York Life vs. Bobby’s Starter at 7 and R.B.Wall vs. Paul Jackson at 8:30.

Peoples 11, Jackson 3

Burns struck out five batters and walked three in pitching thevictory. Michael Fiorella fanned two and walked two in a losingcause as the construction crew struggled with eight errors.

At the plate, Peoples was paced by Burns who singled twice. AlexNeal doubled. Tanner Boutwell, Sam Bivens, Brady Wilson and AlexNeal singled.

PJ’s construction crew got a double from Josh Wiggins. Newt Rileyand Connor Dorman singled.

Pete’s 3, Wall 0

Kaleb Skinner fanned five and walked three in tossing the shutoutfor the regular-season champions from Wesson. Christian Burgess (2K, 0 BB) was charged with the loss.

Bailey Warren doubled for the winners. Austin Crow, Mack Smith andSkinner singled.

The Oilers got singles from Jordan Mitchell, Dylan Watts and CalebYarborough.

Bobby’s 5, Legacy 4

Pitcher Derrick Brumfield (3 K, 2 BB) picked up the win. Chas Acy(0 K, 2 BB) absorbed the setback.

Singles by Carter Quin and Brumfield carried Bobby’s offense.

Legacy got singles from Brett Spring, Michael Lambert and Acy.
