Lincoln County clips Franklin in DYB 10s

BUDE – Lincoln County’s National League all-stars defeatedFranklin County 9-7 Thursday night in the Dixie Youth Baseball AAA10s North Subdistrict Six Tournament at Leroy “Cowboy” JonesMemorial Field. The Nationals remained unbeaten in thedouble-elimination tournament.
Natchez eliminated Copiah in last night’s opener. The Nationalsplay Natchez at 8 tonight. Franklin County plays the LincolnAmericans in the opener at 6.
Finals are Saturday at 7 p.m.

“It wasn’t our best night fielding or hitting,” said Nationalsmanager Stan Winborne. “We were nervous and made some errors. Wewere playing on their field. But we hung in there and got the jobdone.”
On the mound, Tucker Watts started for the Nationals, going twoinnings. He gave up one hit, two runs and one base on balls,striking out four.
Dalton Zumbro (0 K, 3 BB) replaced Watts and notched the win. Intwo innings, he gave up three hits and three runs.
Dylan Winborne (2 K, 1 BB) collected the save. In two frames, hegave up three hits and two runs.
Franklin County’s Jacob McDaniel took the loss in relief ofDalton Hayles.
The Nationals finished with nine hits. Winborne went 2-for-2with two RBIs. Zumbro singled twice. Watts doubled and collectedthree RBIs. Wyatt Brady had a 2-RBI double. Josh Nations singledand earned two RBIs. Peyton Smith and Ben Springfield singled.
Franklin County finished with five hits. Kali Jordan had twohits. Hayles doubled.
