Pete’s, Paul Jackson, NYL post triumphs

Top seeds Pete’s Interiors and Paul Jackson & SonsConstruction were Thursday night winners in the Lincoln CountyDixie Boys Baseball League Tournament at Exchange Club Park. Pete’sdefeated Peoples Bank of the South 7-3 and Paul Jackson edged R.B.Wall Oil 5-4.

In the other tournament game, New York Life beat Bobby’s Starter& Alternator Service 7-3.

Tournament play continues tonight on American Leagion Field withunbeaten Pete’s meeting New York Life at 6 and Paul Jackson facingPeople’s Bank at 8 in the double-elimination affair.

Championship finals are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday. If two gamesare necessary to determine a champion, it will be played at 12:30p.m.

Pete’s 7, Peoples 3

Mack Smith (1 K, 1 BB) was the winning pitcher as the No. 1 seedsremained unbeaten in the double-elimination tournament. BaileyWarren picked up a save.

Sam Bivens (0 K, 5 BB) was the losing pitcher.

At the plate, Pete was powered by Les Parker who doubled andsingled. Ethan Harris and Warren doubled. Taylor Roberts and Smithsingled.

The bankers got two singles from Chase Buckles. Josh Herringdoubled. Alex Neal and Jeremy Burris singled.

Jackson 5, Wall 4

Winning pitcher Heath Hickman struck out five batters and walkedsix as the construction crew rebounded from an opening round loss.Caleb Yarborough fanned five and walked five in a losingcause.

A double by Hickman and singles by Newt Riley and Collin Hall ledPJ in batting.

The Oilers got singles from Brett Calcote and Austin West.

NYL 7, Bobby’s 3

Myles Tipton (3 K, 1 BB) authored the triumph for the insurancesalesmen. Zach Dickerson (2 K, 3 BB) suffered the setback.

Zach Smith doubled and singled for New York Life. The winners got atwo singles from Landon McCullough and a triple from Tipton. ZaneCrosby and Lakendrick Smith singled.

Singles by Hoby Mullins, Graham Cowart, Connor Quin and StevenAikens led BS&A in batting.
