Brook man charged in Ark. slaying

A Brookhaven man wanted in a deadly crime spree in Arkansas wasapprehended in Texas Monday morning.

Authorities said Arkansas State Police and other agencies werelooking for Kendell Nickleson, 26, as the third suspect in the July1 murder of 58-year-old Donna Woodberry of Crossett, Ark.

Nickleson is charged with capital murder, kidnapping and aggravatedrobbery. He surrendered at the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s OfficeDetention Facility early Monday.

Nickleson, who attended Brookhaven High School and whose last knownaddress was in Brookhaven, was allegedly involved with two othersuspects in abducting Woodberry from her home. Shortly afterward,they allegedly killed her, disposed of her body, and robbed a bank,where one of them assaulted a teller. The car was then left at alocal church.

Local officials had been on the lookout for Nickleson, since he hadlived in Brookhaven and it was believed he could possibly returnhere. He went through Crystal Springs on the way to Texas andswitched vehicles with his mother, whose vehicle was registered inLincoln County.
