Virginia ‘Elmease’ Gates

Virginia “Elmease” Gates, 82, of Summit, passed away July 13,2010, at Lakeview Regional medical Hospital in Covington, La.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 until 9 p.m. at Jones FamilyFuneral Services in McComb, with visitation again on Thursday from10 until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at Moaks Creek BaptistChurch. The Rev. Mike Alexander will officiate. Burial will be inthe church cemetery.

Mrs. Gates was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Lincoln County. She was thedaughter of the late J.Q. and Eula Wallace Roberts.

Mrs. Gates was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Moaks CreekBaptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother,great-grandmother and sister who loved all her family and herchurch. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and lovedher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Calvin C.Gates; one son, Jeff Gates; one sister, Louise Roberts Price; andone daughter in-law, Pam Gates.

Survivors include one son and his wife, Bobby L. and Sylvia Gates,of Bogue Chitto; one daughter and her husband, Barbara Ann andRalph Case of Brookhaven; 10 grandchildren and their spouses,DeeDee Wisinger and Greg Gardiner, Jim and Missy Wisinger, Melissaand Keith Peden, Terry and Joni Gates, Dianne and Jason Martin,Christy and Michael Miller, Bobby II and Kristy Gates, ReginaGates, Michelle and Nathan Walker and Dwayne and Margaret Temple; adaughter in-law, Wanda Gates; two special sister in-laws, FayeBroom and Nell Prine; special friends, Oneida Jones, Sonny andShirley Parker, Doris Smith, J.J. and Dot Michiels and Ronald Daleand Mildred Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Gates II, Terry Gates, Michael Miller,Jim Wisinger, Jason Martin and Jake Martin.
