Katherine Alice Harris, 46, of Bogue Chitto, passed away on Aug.8, 2010, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center inMcComb.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at Jones Family FuneralServices in McComb, with visitation again on Thursday from 9:30a.m. until services at 10:30 a.m. at the Montgomery Baptist Churchin Summit. The Rev. Mike McKee will officiate. Burial will be inchurch cemetery.

Ms. Harris was born Nov. 23, 1963, in Tupelo. She was the daughterof James Roy Ritter and Judy Lovette Ryals.

She was an honorary member of the Gatlin family and was a member ofMontgomery Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Hinds CommunityCollege, where she graduated magna cum laude with an associate’sdegree in applied science, computer programming technology. Honorsincluded President’s List, Dean’s List and Phi Theta Kappa HonorSociety.

Ms. Harris had worked for the Jackson Police Department as a 911operator. She was a best friend, a good daughter and was loved byher many family and friends. She will be sadly missed.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her loving best friend and guardian, Larry W.Gatlin; her mother and stepfather, Judy L. and Harold Ryals, ofMillbrook, Ala.; one son, Austin Troy Santana, of Camp Pendleton,Calif.; her paternal grandmother, Edna Ritter, of Tupelo; onegranddaughter, Isabel Santana; two sisters, Sandy Northington andhusband, David of Prattville, Ala., and Jamie Ritter McCracken, ofMontgomery, Ala.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,cousins and additional family members.

Pallbearers are Mark Lovette, Jim Lovette, Benjamin Larry Gatlin,Gordon Wallace, Paul Gatlin and Andy Brown. Honorary pallbearerwill be Harold Ryals.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montgomery BaptistChurch Building Fund.
