Funeral services for Melvin Julius BrownSr., of Bogue Chitto, are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, at NorfieldBethel Missionary Baptist Church in Bogue Chitto, with burial inBogue Chitto/Norfield Cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge ofarrangements.

    Visitation is Friday from 1 until 7 p.m., with family hour from 6until 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

    Mr. Brown, 70, died Aug. 10, 2010, at his residence. He was born inLincoln County on Dec. 9, 1939, to Junious Brown and BessieCrossley Brown.

    He attended Lincoln County Training School and Eva H. Harris HighSchool in Brookhaven. He was a retired painter who owned andoperated Brown’s Painting for over 40 years. He was a veteran ofthe United States Army and a member of Norfield Bethel M.B.Church.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sister, Virginia”Cake” Harness.

    Survivors are his sons, Melvin Julius “Jay” Brown Jr. and wife,Debbie, of Eaton, Pa., and Justin Dupree Brown and wife, Kayatta,of McComb; his daughter, Chander Johnson and husband, Kimmy, ofMcComb; his sisters, Frances Gatlin and husband, James, ofInglewood, Calif., and Shirley McGowan and husband, Smiley, andFannie Jean Brown, all of Bogue Chitto; his brothers, William Brownand wife, Julia, Jerry Brown, Carl Brown and wife, Gloria, andJames Brown and wife, Janet, all of Bogue Chitto, Othell Brown andwife, Bridgett, of Lancaster, Calif., and Franklin Brown and wife,Suzanne, of Milwaukee, Wis.; eight grandchildren; his special son,Cavin Allen, of Summit; his goddaughter, Katina McNulty, of BogueChitto; his special daughter, Shelia May Burage and husband,Ferral, of Bogue Chitto; and many nieces, nephews, other relativesand friends.
