Lady Cats whip Wesson

BOGUE CHITTO — The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats walloped the WessonLady Cobras 10-0 in Monday night slowpitch softball action andremained undefeated in three games.

The Lady Cats travel to Franklin County, Thursday. Game time is5:30 for JV and 6:30 for varsity. Wesson hosts Lawrence CountyThursday for a 5 p.m. JV start, followed by the varsity at 6.

Kerri McGehee provided a strong pitching performance for the Cats(3-0) collecting no strikeouts and no walks in the 5-inning game.Jessica Delaney absorbed the loss for the Cobras (0-1) pitching nostrikeouts and allowing four walks in the season opener.

Senior shortstop Josie Porter led the offensive attack for BogueChitto with two triples as BC scored four runs in the first frameand plated four more in the second to lead 8-zip. Darcy Miller alsocontributed to the attack with three singles. Bradi Davis and ToySmith provided two singles apiece. Hitting a single were MattieAvants and Kerri McGehee.

“We hit the ball really well tonight and played very good defense,said Bogue Chitto head coach Scott Leggett who saw his team commitone error. “We have just got to keep it rolling.”

The Cobras were led offensively by Abbey Smith, Christian Wards andKara Darby with a single apiece.

“We’ve got to do a better job making routine plays and gettinghits,” said Wesson head coach Jackie Johnson.

In JV action, Bogue Chitto defeated Wesson 10-0. Leading the Catswas Mallory Allen with a double and a single.

Hailey Estess also contributed to the Bogue Chitto win with twosingles apiece. Christian Black hit a double. And hitting a singleapiece were Heather Miller, Colby Kirkland and Kacey Leggett.

Sarah Beth Miller, Abbey Smith and Kara Darby led the Cobras with asingle apiece.
