Sidney Levelle Scarborough

Sidney Levelle Scarborough, 86, of Wesson, died Aug. 20, 2010,at his residence. Services will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 22, atWesson Baptist Church with burial in Wesson Cemetery. BrookhavenFuneral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service atthe church.

Mr. Scarborough was born on July 28, 1924, in Union, to Sidney andMae Wroten Scarborough. He retired after 39 years with the IllinoisCentral Railroad, where he worked in the materials department. Hiswork took him to numerous cities including Vicksburg, Jackson,McComb, Shreveport, La., Memphis, Tenn., and and Chicago, Ill. Hewas a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. ArmyCombat Engineers from August 1943 until January 1946.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brother, DurwardScarborough.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Stubbs Scarborough, of Wesson;his sisters, Junie McNeil and Etna Jean Gray, of Hickory; hisbrother, Thomas Scarborough, of Hickory; his nephews, SidneyMcNeil, Mike McNeil, Tom Gray, Tim Gray, Charles Newman and DupreeNewman; his nieces, Peggy Gandy, Paula Freeman, Janet Green, CindyCanoy and Ruby Lloyd; and several great-nieces andgreat-nephews.
