Enterprise will be under the direction of first-year head coachJosh Garrett.
According to Garrett, his Jackets are excited to get the seasonstarted. He wants to improve on a 2-8 record from last year.
“If we come in and do the things needed to win this will be a goodgame,” said Garrett. “I expect a long, hard-fought game from bothsides.”
Coach Garrett revealed his starting lineup for Friday night. Onoffense, Cody White will start his senior year as quarterback.Working in the trenches in the offensive line: right guard is TonyBlair; right tackle is Chris Lea; center is Matt Greer; left guardis Keagan Smith and left tackle is Kevin Nguyen.

Spring is the kicker. Prather will be the punter. Together theywill do their part to help pin the opponent as far back aspossible.
Asked about Friday night’s opponent, Garrett said, “Bogue Chittohas a strong ball club and they are fast. They will be ready toplay because they are well-coached.”
Bogue Chitto, coached by Gareth Sartin, faces an untestedEnterprise team this week.
“I expect Enterprise to be ready to play against us,” said CoachSartin. “This game has always been a big county rivalry for bothteams. So I expect the game to be challenging.”
Senior running back Chris Hall powered the Bogue Chitto ground gameagainst St. Joe with 11 carries for 255 yards and scored threescored touchdowns.
On defense, James Blackwell and Kevin Brothern led the Bobcats with5 tackles apiece.
Loyd Star, coached by Randal Huffman, looks for its first win afterreceiving a 62-7 thrashing from the Franklin County Bulldogs.
Asked about the game, Huffman said, “I expect us to settled downand play some football this week,” said Huffman. “We are a youngteam but we are confident that we will turn it around. The loss toFranklin County has inspired our players to strive to dobetter.
Huffman said the Cathedral Green Wave was “very consistent.Cathedral is very solid offensively and defensively.”
In the loss at Franklin County, junior running back Josh Butlerrushed the ball 7 times for 24 yards. Senior quarterback KoreyAllen went 1 for 2 with 31 passing yards and one rushingtouchdown.
Defensively, Butler led The Hornets with six tackles. Allen alsocontributed five tackles.
Natchez Cathedral will be under the direction of first year headcoach Ron Rushing. The Green Wave is fresh from an impressive 28-6win over the Central Private Rebels.
Rushing, a former baseball coach at Brookhaven Academy, said LoydStar would be ready to play. “They’re a lot better than that scoreindicates.”
Rushing said the win over Central Private was a plus.
“A win definitely helps out our confidence, but we have to focus. We’re taking it one game at a time,” Rushing said.
Part of keeping his team down to earth after such a big win ismaking sure the players know that there are still things they needto work on.
“We checked out the film and pointed out all the thing we needed tocorrect,” Rushing said.
“Our game (against Central Private) wasn’t all clean. We did makemistakes, and we have to correct those if we’re going to keep doingwell this season. The film doesn’t lie, and it really puts thingsin perspective.”
And the Green Wave will have to play virtually mistake-free if theywant to have a chance against a bigger Loyd Star team, Rushingsaid.
“They’re a really gritty team. They got off to a rough startagainst Franklin County and couldn’t overcome that, but we expectthem come out wanting to make a statement that they are a goodfootball team,” Rushing said.
Cathedral has the misfortune of playing a team coming off a bigloss, something Rushing said would be challenging for the GreenWave.
“When you play a good team that just lost by a lot, it is moredifficult for you. I know (Loyd Star head coach) Randall Huffmanstayed up all night watching film. Good teams know how to putthings behind them and get ready for the next game,” Rushingsaid.
In addition to having a size advantage, Rushing also pointed to theathleticism of Loyd Star’s skill players as something they’ll haveto keep in check.
“They have a lot of 4.3 and 4.4 (40-yard dash) guys. They’re alsoreally big up front, and they’ll try to run it straight at us,” hesaid.
Cathedral quarterback Caleb Upton is coming off a 14-for-23,224-yard passing performance against Central Private.
Rushing replaced Craig Beesley in May. Beesley remains at theschool as the athletic director and head baseball coach.
