Jackets defend nest, bury West Lincoln Bears

Senior Brad Prather scored two touchdowns as Enterprise smashedtheir county rivals the West Lincoln Bears 35-6 Friday night onHarry Cole Field. The Jackets rolled up 202 yards on offense.
“This was a good win for our kids,” said first year head coach JoshGarrett. “We played much harder tonight.”
The Fighting Yellow Jackets (1-1) came out of the gate on fire inthe first quarter scoring four touchdowns. The Enterprise specialteam orchestrated two of the touchdowns, which were scored veryquickly in the first minute.
The Jackets’ special team started the charge by recovering the liveball on the 1-yard line on the opening kickoff. Quarterback CodyWhite to scored the first touchdown on a 1-yard plunge into the endzone. Lance Spring went five-for-five on the extra points for thenight.
On the next possession, the Jackets defense forced West Lincoln topunt the ball. The special teams then caused the Bears punter tofumble the ball and Brad Prather pick up and ran it back 18-yardsfor a touchdown.
Senior running back Garrett Greer scored the Jackets’ thirdtouchdown on a 7-yard run. The final touchdown of the first quartercame on a pass from Cody White to Brad Prather for an 80-yardstouchdown strike.
Enterprise scored its final touchdown of the game in the secondquarter, when Thomas Allen sprinted 57 yards to paydirt.
West Lincoln (0-2) managed to get on the scoreboard late in thefourth quarter when Deon Moore fought his way through for a 5-yardrushing touchdown. Alston Bozeman failed to make the extrapoint.
“Enterprise came out ready to play,” said West Lincoln head coachChris Calcote. “I am very proud of my guys for not quitting. Theyplayed very hard. Us coaches have got to do a better job in gettingthem ready to play.”
Defensively, the Fighting Jackets held the Bears to 80-yards oftotal offense. James Wooley and Trent Sandifer led the attack withsix tackles apiece. Cory Hickson provided four tackles. Pratherrecovered a fumble for Enterprise.
“We still have room for improvement on offense and defense to getour program where it should be,” continued Garrett. “Now we mustprepare ourselves for next week game’s against Natchez Cathedraland their aerial attack.”
Tyler Malone led the Bears defensively with four tackles. HunterFauver, Tyler Roberts, Alston Bozeman, Jonathan Smith and AustinMontgomery provided three tackles apiece. Fauver intercepted apass.
Enterprise will travel to Natchez to play the Cathedral Green Wavenext Friday. West Lincoln will play their first home game againstthe Pelahatchie Chiefs. The games are set to kick off 7:30 p.m.
