Funeral services for James Hildrey Smith Sr., of Brookhaven,were 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, at Community Funeral ServicesChapel in Brookhaven, with burial in Macedonia Baptist ChurchCemetery in Brookhaven.

Visitation was Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Smith, 75, died Sept. 15, 2010, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. He was born in Mississippi on Jan. 18, 1935,to Ernest Smith and Edgenora Harman Furlow.

He was a truck driver with J.M. Foster. He served in the UnitedStates Navy from 1952 until 1956. He was a member of MacedoniaBaptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brother, ThomasSmith.

Survivors are his son, James (Jamie) H. Smith Jr.; his daughter,Nora Lynn Fortenberry; his sisters, Mildred Chandler and JeanneMcRae; his grandchildren, Ashley White, Holly Dickson, Sarah Austinand Daniel Smith; his great-grandchildren, Bryan White, JacobWhite, Gabbie Brown and Abbie Dickson; and his special nephew andniece, Jimmy and Suzette Durr.
