Richland escapes Enterprise

The Richland Rangers scored three touchdowns in the fourthquarter to capture a 27-12 win over the Enterprise Fighting YellowJackets Friday night on Harry Cole Field.

“My guys fought hard and did not give up,” said Enterprise headcoach Josh Garrett. “Overall, I was very pleased with our effort.We had some young players step up and play well in replacement ofsome of our injured starters. It was a good step in the rightdirection for Enterprise.”

The Rangers (2-3) managed to get on the scoreboard first. AustinMinton marched down the field for a 13-yard touchdown in the firstquarter with 6:15 remaining. Richland went for the extra pointattempt, but Enterprise’s Brad Prather blocked the kick.

The Jackets (1-3) answered back in the second quarter. When GarrettGreer ran in a 6-yard touchdown with 6:02 remaining. Enterprisealso went for the extra point but Richland’s defenders blocked thekick. The Rangers and the Jackets fought to keep the score tied 6-6going into halftime.

In the second half, the fans got to witness two teams battling backand forth as the score remained tied going into the fourthquarter.

In the fourth quarter, Casey King cashed in a 4-yard run to paydirtwith 9:50 remaining as the Rangers broke the deadlock.

Dee Walker helped Rangers take a 2-touchdown lead when he plungedin on a 2-yard run with 7:45 remaining. Richland made two attempton the night going for the 2-point conversion and were successfulon one when Walker punched it in.

Enterprise tried to rally their troops late in the fourth. WhenThomas Allen ran back a kickoff 82-yards with 7:32 remaining. TheJackets were unsuccessful on the PAT.

Richland managed to deny the Jackets rally, when Cody Robinson fellupon an Enterprise fumble in the end zone and Galen Britt tack onthe extra point with 1:56 remaining as the Rangers took 27-12 leadover the Jackets.

Quarterback Cody White completed 5 passes on 17 attempts for 53yards to lead Enterprise offensively. On the ground, Garrett Greerrushed for 40 yards on 15 carries. Lance Springs received twocatches for 15-yards and Brad Prather caught one pass for 34yards.

Defensively, Jedd Moak was the star for the night for Enterprise,collecting 16 tackles. Sam Furr provided 11 tackles. Matt Kingcontributed 10 tackles. Taylor Rutland, Ethan Whittington and Whitefinished with 8 tackles apiece.

Enterprise visits Mt. Hermon, La. Friday night.
