WESSON – Games seem to get tougher for the Co-Lin Wolfpack asthe season rolls along. South Division powerhouse Jones CountyJunior College invades Stone Stadium Thursday night for a showdown.Kickoff is 7 p.m. in Stone Stadium.

The Bobcats (1-2, 0-1) lost a close game to nationally ranked No.1Mississippi Gulf Coast Saturday night, falling 31-24 in a SouthDivision test. Co-Lin (3-0, 1-0), sharing the South Division’s toprung with Gulf Coast (3-0, 1-0)hopes to continue its winning waysafter beating Hinds 30-17.

Co-Lin head coach Glenn Davis said his No. 15-ranked team will facean exceptionally strong opponent in JCJC. The Bobcats beatMississippi Delta 34-3 in their season opener and then lost 26-24to Coahoma.

“Jones has a good club and we will have to play well,” said Davis.”(Coaches) do a good job coaching their kids. We will have to playour best game.”

The Bobcats are under the direction of coach Eddie Pierce who is inhis fifth year at the helm.

Davis praised JCJC quarterback Tramarcus Toney (6-2, 220, so.), atransfer from Itawamba CC. Toney is from Memphis.

“Their quarterback really throws the ball well,” said Davis. “He’sthe best passer we’ve faced. We will have to put pressure on himand get him off target.”

Toney has passed for 385 yards and four touchdowns this season.He’s completed 39 of 63 passes and thrown only oneinterception.

Running back Lavoris Powell (6-1, 210, fr.) is from Lake City, Fla.and is the Bobcats’ main rusher.

Wideouts Deuce Coon (5-11, 190, fr.) from Baton Rouge and CalvinMcDougal (5-10, 170, fr.) from Waynesboro are two of Toney’sprimary receivers.

On defense, the Bobcats are led by linemen Ryan Robinson (6-5, 26,so.) from Buford, Ga. and Jo’Nal White (6-1, 295, so.) from Rustin,La.

Safeties Chris Smith (5-10 190, fr.) from Laurel and RoderickMcCullum (5-11, 200, so.) from Taylorsville anchor thesecondary.

High Point At Hinds

The victory at Hinds featured an impressive first half as theWolfpack forged a 27-10 lead. Davis said, “It was probably the besthalf we’ve played so far. We put a lot of things together on bothsides of the ball.”

Offensively, sophomore running back Titus Mobley directed theCo-Lin assault with 18 rushes for 159 yards and one touchdown.Quarterback Percy Turner completed 11 of 16 passes for 109 yards.Jeffrey Collins caught a 31-yard TD pass and Damien Burnett made a14-yard TD catch.

Sophomore speedster Fred Fuller returned a kickoff 96 yards for aCo-Lin TD.

On defense, Co-Lin limited Hinds to 62 yards rushing and 181passing. Freshman Calvin Jones directed the effort with 11 tackles,one sack and an interception.

“Calvin Jones played well for us,” said Davis. “He has a good nosefor the football. We had a lot of guys play well.”

Linebacker Joe Mays tops Co-Lin’s tackle charts after three gameswith 16 solo tackles and 13 assists. Jason Catchings and Jones eachhave 14 solo stops to their credit. Roland Dampeer and TerranceColeman have four sacks apiece.
