Enterprise visit Mt. Hermon; Bogue Chitto hosts St. Aloysius

It will be a war between a pair of Yellow Jacket football teamsFriday night when Enterprise travels to Louisiana to face Mt.Hermon. The contest begins at 7:30 p.m.

In other Lincoln County action, Brookhaven invades West Jones,Bogue Chitto entertains St. Aloysius of Vicksburg and West Lincolntravels to Dexter.

Loyd Star (1-4) has an date this week to nurse some injuries.

Enterprise (1-3) is coming off a tough home loss as the Jacketsfell to Richland 27-12 last week. Mt. Hermon (1-2) captured itsfirst-ever victory in high school football 30-6 over the WestLincoln Bears.

Enterprise head coach Josh Garrett has scouted Mt. Hermon and saidthey have some talent despite their record.

“Mt. Hermon is better than they were last year,” said Garrett. “Ourbiggest concern right now is that we have some players out due toinjuries and other players out due to the stomach bug. But if westick to our fundamental with the personnel we do have this Friday,hopefully we can pull out a win.”

In the loss to Richland, Enterprise was led on offense byquarterback Cody White, who completed 5 passes on 17 attempts for53 yards. On the ground, Garrett Greer rushed for 40 yards on 15carries. Lance Springs made two catches for 15-yards and BradPrather caught one pass for 34 yards.

The Jacket defense was directed by Jedd Moak, who was the star forEnterprise, collecting 16 tackles. Sam Furr provided 11 tackles.Matt King contributed 10 tackles. Taylor Rutland, Ethan Whittingtonand White finished with 8 tackles apiece.

In the win over West Lincoln, the Louisiana-base Jackets offensewas led by freshman running back Joe Walls who rushed for 150 yardsand scored three touchdowns.

Last year, Enterprise beat Mt. Hermon 49-16.

Bogue Chitto (2-2) had a open date last week to prepare for itsfirst Region 4-1A test against St. Aloysius. The Vicksburg-basedFlashes (2-2) also had a open date last week.

Bogue Chitto head coach Gareth Sartin said St. Al has a veteranteam.

“St. Al has a tough team and they love to play us hard,” saidSartin. “This will be a very important district game for us. Wehave got to stick to our game plan and try to get the win.”

Two weeks ago, Bogue Chitto fell to Loyd Star 35-28 and Madison St.Joe whipped St. Al 21-6.

In the loss to Loyd Star, Bogue Chitto had 216 rushing yards.Colton McClendon led the Bobcats with 12 carries for 84 yards.James Blackwell had 9 carries for 57 yards. Chris Hall had 9carries for 52 yards.

BC quarterback Brock Roberts was 12 of 22 for 217 yards passing and2 touchdowns with one interception. Germie Martin led the receiverswith 6 catches for 159 yards. Michael Martin had 3 catches for 25yards. Hall has 1 catch for 22 yards.

The Bobcats’ defense was led by Shane Lewis with 7 tackles andTevin Tobias provided 6 tackles . James Blackwell had a fumblerecovery.

Last year, BC beat St. Al 12-7.

West Lincoln (0-4) is still looking for their first win of theseason and travels to face the Dexter Bulldogs for a Region 4-1Acontest.

Last Friday, Dexter shut out Salem 40-0.

West Lincoln head coach Chris Calcote said Dexter can be anexplosive team.

“Dexter has a very good football team. They have a lot of athleticplayers that are small and quick and they love to swarm to theball.”

In the homecoming loss to Mt. Hermon, the Bears’ offense collected210 total yards. Deon Moore led the attack, rushing for 132-yardson 17 carries. Jonah King managed to gain 43-yards rushing on 7carries and connect on 3 passes in 10 attempts for 18-yards and oneinterception. On defense, Tyler Malone recovered a fumble.

The Bears lost 34-13 to Dexter last season.
