Mississippi Blood Services will be in Brookhaven Monday to helpfill a critical need in the life of one Lincoln County man.

A mobile blood lab will be on-site from 12:30 until 6 p.m. at TheDAILY LEADER’s offices on 128 North Railroad Ave. The blood drivewill benefit Darrell Parks, 39, who was critically injured in awork-related accident on Sept. 15.

Family members said Parks, an employee at Smith’s Machine andWelding in Brookhaven, was working at a job site when he fell 28-30feet through a skylight and hit a cement floor.

He sustained multiple injuries, including a broken wrist, hip,knee, ankle, crushed elbow, and multiple facial fractures, saidTheresa Milholen, Parks’ aunt and The DAILY LEADER’s businessoffice manager.

“He has had several surgeries, with several more on the way,” saidMilholen.

Parks has already received six pints of blood, she said.

“Each time he has surgery, he has to have more blood,” Milholensaid.

The blood drive is open to the public and anyone eligible can give,she said.

Parks and his wife of 11 years, Stephanie, have a 4-year-olddaughter, Bailey, and are members of Victory Baptist Church inLincoln County.

An account has been set up in Parks’ name at Bank of Franklin foranyone who is willing to make a donation.
