North Pike rallies past Bogue Chitto

SUMMIT – Charneissa Gordon homered and singled in leading theNorth Pike Lady Jaguars to a 13-4 Tuesday comeback victory againstBogue Chitto’s Lady Cats in slowpitch softball action. Gordon (0 K,4 BB) also pitched the win.
Bogue Chitto (18-6) resumes play next Tuesday, Oct. 4, in theopening round of the Class 1A state playoffs. The Cats will hostMt. Olive for a best-of-three series, starting at 5 p.m.
“North Pike has a solid team,” said BC boss Scott Leggett. “Theypulled away in the fifth with some big hits.”
The fatal fifth saw the Jaguars exploding for nine runs as theyerased a 4-3 deficit. Lauren Wells doubled twice and singled.Marissa Jenkins and Breanna McKenzie collected three singlesapiece.
Shelby Abdul-Hadi doubled and singled in the win. Savannah Johnstonsingled twice.
North Pike (19-5), coached by Sonya Wallace, will host ColumbiaTuesday in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs.
Kerri McGehee (1 K, 0 BB) was charged with the loss as her recordslipped to 18-6.
Bogue Chitto got a fence-clearing homer from shortstop JosiePorter. Alexis Givens, Kerri McGehee, Darcy Miller and AdrienneWallace singled.
In the JV game, BC beat North Pike 4-1 as Shelby Crosby tossed thevictory.
Triples by Heather Miller and Alana Nettles directed BC’s attack.Christian Black doubled and Hailey Estess singled.
