Chiefs clip Hazlehurst

TYLERTOWN – The Tylertown Chiefs scalped the Hazlehurst Indians26-24 Friday night in a hard-fought Regional 7-3A contest. TheIndians fell to 4-2 on the season and 0-1 in the region.
Senior Gabrial Gray scored Hazlehurst first touchdown in the firstquarter when he ran 25 yards with 1:18 remaining. The Indians went0-for-4 on extra point kicks.
Wide receiver Jamerius James caught a 51-yard pass from quarterbackKenneth Coleman with 6 minutes remaining. Cornelius Crump scored onan 18-yard run with 3:12 left in the second quarter.
Demetrius Cain scored the Indians’ final touchdown in the thirdquarter as he ran 66 yards to paydirt.
Defensively, Leviticus Cain led Hazlehurst with 9 tackles. DemondTucker and Jonkil Skipper provided 7 stops apiece.
Crump led the ground attack for Hazlehurst with 8 carries for 112yards. Coleman completed 4 of 7 passes for 55 yards. James led allreceivers with one reception for 51 yards.
The Indians return home Friday to host the Franklin County Bulldogsfor a big Region 7-3A matchup. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
