Lady Cats romp past Noxapater

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats did not waste any timein sweeping the Noxapater Lady Tigers in two games Saturday in thesecond round of the MSHAA Class 1A slowpitch softball playoffs. TheCats eliminated the Tiger 8-1 in both games.

“It was good to get the win,” said BC head coach Scott Leggett. “Weare glad to be back playing for the South State Championshipagainst West Lincoln once again.”

The Lady Cats (22-6) will be in action Tuesday, traveling to facecounty rival the West Lincoln Lady Bears for the South State 1AChampionship. Game time is 5 p.m. It will be a best-of-threeseries.

BC 8, Noxapater 1

Kerri McGehee (3K, 0BB) was the winning pitcher for the Cats. HaleyPierce (3K, 7BB) absorbed the loss.

Adrienne Wallace led Bogue Chitto’s attack with three singles. ToySmith contributed two singles. Hitting safely were Mattie Avants,Darcy Miller, Bradi Davis, Rheagan Welch and Alexis Givens.

Brianna Glass led the Noxapater offense with two singles. TaylorSmith, Chelsea Moore, Tamerica Yarbrough, Emily Mills, HannahHamilton and Pierce hit a single apiece.

McGehee (3K, 0BB) was the winning pitcher for the Cats. HaleyPierce (2K, 1BB) absorbed the loss.

Josie Porter conducted the offensive explosion for Bogue Chittowith two doubles and a single. Davis, McGehee and Smith providedthe three singles apiece. The Cats got two singles from Avants,Wallace, Welch and Givens.

Moore led the Tigers hitters with a home run. Hitting safely wereMadison Barnett, Pierce, Yarbrough, Mills and Hamilton.
