Mary Gaynell Robertson Ezelle, 88, died at Highland Home inRidgeland, Miss., on Oct. 13, 2010.
Born May 22, 1922, in Wesson, Miss., to Robert Alan and Mary OleviaRobertson. Mrs. Ezelle was a graduate of Heuck’s RetreatSchool.
Mrs. Ezelle thrived on giving care to others. Whether ministeringto elderly relatives or her own children and grandchildren, shestood ready to come to their aid. Her touch was gentle and patient,and the comfort she gave to all who needed her cannot bemeasured.
An exceptional cook, Mrs. Ezelle endlessly delighted her family andfriends with wonders from her kitchen. As a lifelong member ofMission Hill Baptist Church, no “dinner on the grounds” wascomplete without her chocolate pie and cornbread dressing.
Mrs. Ezelle enjoyed visiting family and friends, traveling with herdaughter, and fellowshipping with other members of First BaptistChurch’s LLL Club. An avid puzzle solver, Mrs. Ezelle also enjoyedquilting, photography, fishing and trying new recipes. She was agifted gardener and took great pleasure in sharing cuttings of hergardenias, which bloom with abandon every spring.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, HomerEzelle; her son, Prentiss Rowland Ezelle; and her brother, PercyQuinn Robertson.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Ezelle Derrick (David); herdaughter-in-law, Christine Ezelle; six grandchildren, ElizabethEzelle Hughes, Jason Derrick, Ben Derrick (Cammie), Cindy SadlerHobgood (Jack), Howard Sadler (Weslyn) and Joe Sadler;13great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at 11a.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on Natchez Drive.
Visitation is Friday, Oct. 15 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of theservice.
Interment will be at Mission Hill Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or theAmerican Diabetes Foundation.
