Funeral services for Howard Eugene Smith, of Brookhaven, are 2p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, at New Sight Baptist Church inBrookhaven, with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home,and will resume on Thursday at the church from 1 p.m. until thetime of the service.

Mr. Smith, 70, died Oct. 25, 2010, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. He was born in Texas on Dec. 12, 1939, toColton Smith and Radie Mae Smith.

He was retired from his work in the oilfield. He was a member ofNew Sight Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United StatesNavy.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brother, DeltonSmith.

Survivors are his wife, Maudell Newell Smith; his son, TimothySmith and wife, Julie; his daughter, Deborah Williams and husband,Lester; his brother, the Rev. Gerald Smith and wife, Glenda; hisgrandchildren, Caleb, Courtney and Cassie Williams; Zach, Garrett,Brandon and Eli Smith; and Cairey Beth Griffin; his sister-in-law,Fay Smith; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
