Bears, Bruins split twinbill

West Lincoln’s senior guard Jay Case pumped in a game-high 38points as the Bears roared to a 73-45 win over the Madison St.Joseph Bruins Saturday in Jack Case Gymnasium.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Bruins held on to a 47-44 victory overthe Lady Bears.

West Lincoln returns to action Monday, hosting North Pike. Gametime begins with the girls at 6 p.m., followed by the boys.

St. Joe 47, West Lincoln 44

Karli Herrington was the leading scorer for the Lady Bears (1-2)with 26 points. Katie Mullins provided 10 points and 5 rebounds.Katie Hester led the boards with 8 rebounds.

“We played really hard in the second half,” said West Lincoln coachLane Young. “We had the opportunities to win but we missed 11free-throws late in the fourth quarter.”

Arianna Cargin led the Lady Bruins with 17 points. Corbin Divinitycontributed 15 points.

West Lincoln 73, St. Joe 45

Jared Case and Lucas Burris scored in double figures to help leadthe Bears (3-0) with 10 points apiece. De Price and Burris crashedthe boards, collecting 6 rebounds apiece.

“We played really well defensively,” said Young. “Jay Case had agood game for us offensively. Overall, I was very pleased with ourteam effort.”

Nick Pernell netted 22 points led the Bruins.
