Funeral services for Cecil Bates Reeves, of Wesson, were held at2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in CopiahCounty, with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Homehandled arrangements.

Mr. Reeves, 87, died Nov. 24, 2010, at his residence. He was bornin Raymond on June 28, 1923, to Houston Atlas Reeves and Ruth EllenReeves.

He was retired from the soil conservation department and was aformer poultry farmer. He was a member of the American Legion. Hewas also a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, where he was anhonorary deacon. He was a United States Navy veteran of World WarII.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mildred HaleyReeves; and his brother, Wesley Reeves Sr.

Survivors are his son, Dan Reeves and wife, Wanda, of Wesson; hisdaughters, Ann R. Russell of Wesson, and Nancy R. Lewis ofBrookhaven; his sister, Louellen Smith of Clinton; sevengrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchildthat is yet to be born.
