Joyce Litton Phillips

Joyce Litton Phillips, 86, passed away with her son by her sideon Nov. 18, 2010, in Fairhope, Ala.
A native of Litton, Mrs. Phillips was a 1945 honors graduate of OleMiss as the first woman ever elected president of the School ofBusiness.
With her husband Peter Phillips, she lived in Brookhaven for manyyears where their only child, John Peter Phillips Jr., was raised.She was member of the First Methodist Church of Brookhaven and hadfond memories of her years there.
Following the death of her husband in 1989, Mrs. Phillips moved toNew Orleans where many happy new memories were made. She wasinvolved with a number of senior activity groups, made new friends,and was proud to be a Saints season ticket holder.
She was forced to leave New Orleans only by the tragedy ofHurricane Katrina.
In addition to her husband, John Peter Phillips, she was precededin death by her parents, Luther and Kathleen McCarty Litton; herbrother, Larry Adrian Litton; and her beloved sister, PatriciaLitton Craig. She is survived by her son and several nieces andnephews.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday,Nov. 29, 2010, at Lake Lawn Park in New Orleans.
