Brook Academy splits with MRA

MADISON – The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars (7-0) braved theharsh weather elements outside and edged the Madison-RidgelandAcademy Lady Patriots 47-43 Monday night indoors.

In varsity boys’ action, MRA held off the Brookhaven AcademyCougars for a 52-47 victory.

The Cougars and Lady Cougars resume action Saturday traveling toHattiesburg to face the Presbyterian Christian School Bobcats.Tipoff begins with the girls at 3 p.m., followed by the boys.

BA 47, MRA 43

Junior guard Terah Winborne pumped in a game-high 15 points to leadthe Lady Cougars. Laura Beth Wright netted 12 points and snatched 4rebounds as her team erased a 26-25 halftime deficit. Anna KatelynMangold led the boardwork grabbing 8 rebounds.

Haley Cox was the leading scorer for the Lady Patriots with 12points.

MRA 52, BA 47

Caleb Miskelly led all MRA scorers with 24 points. Justin Malonehad 12 points as th Patriots rallied past BA after trailing 36-34entering the fourth quarter.

Center Sidney Chaffin provided the Cougars with a good shootingperformance, scoring 26 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. BrennanMiller contributed 11 points. Brock Smith led the boards with 13rebounds.

In seventh grade action, The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougarsslipped past MRA 20-19.
