Funeral services for Doris Smith, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. onWednesday, Dec. 29, at New Prospect Baptist Church in LincolnCounty, with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Homeon Natchez Drive is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeralhome, and at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of theservice.

Mrs. Smith, 86, died Dec. 27, 2010, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. She was born in Lincoln County on April 12,1924, to Lucien L. Smith and Naomi Stewart Smith.

She was employed as a factory worker. She was a member of NewProspect Baptist Church. She was a second mother and grandmother tomany, and was loved by all who knew her. She is now walking alongthe streets of gold and by the pearly sea.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, Harvey D.Smith and R.E. Smith; her sister, Audrey Laird; her half brother,Harold Hemphill; and her nephew, Mike Smith.

Survivors are her nephews, Randy Laird, Russell Laird, Bill Smith,Bob Smith and Jimmy Smith; her nieces, Theresia Freeman, SherryLewis, Marilyn Wilson and Kathy Hamilton; her sister-in-law, JewellSmith of Michigan; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
