MEADVILLE – The search for Madison Drew Nichols, 14, of Hamburg,is over after authorities found her at a friend’s house in CrosbyMonday afternoon, said Franklin County Sheriff James Newman.

Nichols was brought back to the Franklin County Sheriff’sDepartment and was then transferred to the Adams County DetentionCenter on Monday. Under court order, she will remain at thedetention center until her court hearing Tuesday afternoon.

“She was kind of classified as a runaway, but it is still underinvestigation,” said Newman.

Newman added that he did not think the friend’s parents willface any criminal charges, but that too is under investigation.

Nichols was originally reported missing on Saturday. Authoritiesare glad the investigation ended just 30 minutes from her home.

“At least it has a happy ending,” said Newman. “Sometimes withthese young folks, when you don’t know all the circumstances, itcan have a sad ending.”
